1. Sacramento BJJ Tournament
On Saturday May 28, there will be a Jiu-Jitsu tournament at Cosumnes River College. If you are interested in competing in this event sign up and let Eliot know ASAP. I have talked with the event coordinator & he is doing his best for the referees and rules to match IBJJF standards. Tournaments are not mandatory but a great opportunity to CHALLENGE yourself and put your skills to the test.
Registration Deadline is May 22.

2. May Takedown Series
This month, we will focus on some simple takedowns from the underhook position. This is a very common position in submission grappling or wrestling and can be very easily adapted to the gi game. You can also use the lapel or top of the collar to do the exact same moves.

3. Hydration
The weather is starting to turn from cool to blazin' hot! HYDRATION will be essential! Avoid carbonated, caffeinated, or alcoholic drinks. They will work against the body. Drink a minimum of 6 ~ 8 glasses of water on a workout day. Sports Drinks are not bad, but tend to be very concentrated. It would be best to add some water to water down the drink. I drink a product called Rehydrate (aka: super gatorade) to help replace electrolytes I lose from working out.

4. May CHALLENGE
The word of the month for May is CHALLENGE. Read the blog to help yourself get an idea of how we can CHALLENGE ourselves.
Also, my CHALLENGE to you is to sign up for the Star 6 Memorial Run in Folsom, CA. Click on the link below to register for the 5k run/walk or 10k run! There is no shame in doing a shorter distance, the important thing is that we take on the CHALLENGE!!
